Forest industry

The forest products industry has been hugely transformed in just a few years. Tormets and its know-how have been part of this transformation. Paper machines have been converted to make cardboard. Pulp mills now produce bioproducts instead. At the same time, the mills have significantly reduced their environmental impacts, despite producing higher volumes.

Sustainable solutions to support change

Best practices, best results

Modernizing new production lines and old units has made mills more production-, energy- and cost-efficient. A good example of this is Kemi, Lapland, where Europe’s largest bioproduct mill started up in 2023. Tormets’s deliveries to this vast, state-of-the-art Metsä Fibre bioproduct mill included extensive piping work, wood handling equipment and hydraulics.

Tormets’s core region is the Bothnian Bay shore and the mines of northern Finland and Sweden. Here, large industrial projects are constantly under way. Being part of them is a brilliant opportunity to stay at the forefront of developments. Partnering strategically with a range of industrial plants strengthens our know-how. It sharpens our capacity for adapting the best practices to maintenance and regeneration in the forest industry.
